You are in an employee classification that is covered by the Service Contract Act (SCA) or a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). SCA employees earn Health and Welfare (H&W) fringe dollars which are used to offset the cost of your benefit selections. If the cost of your benefit selections exceeds the H&W fringe dollars earned, the difference is deducted from your paycheck. Any remaining H&W fringe dollars it elections that cost less than the H&W fringe dollars earned, are considered residual dollars, and these amounts are deposited into the employee’s 401(k) account. For CBA employees, all terms will align with your specific agreement.

Akima has partnered with Jellyvision to offer an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that can guide employees to maximize their benefits selections for themselves and their dependents.

Meet ALEX, our artificial intelligence friend built by Jellyvision. ALEX will explain Akima’s benefits offerings and guide you to ensure you are making smart and informed choices before you enroll in benefits.

How it works: Through engaging animations and simple questions, ALEX collects information about you and your family needs, chronic conditions, and more to deliver tailored benefits advice. The tool also shows you how much money you can save through various options.

Medical/Prescription

ANTHEM BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD

Choice of three PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plans: Standard Plan, Health Savings Account (HSA) Plan, and Plus Plan
Plan options generally cover same benefits but differ with copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and cost sharing percentages
Express Scripts (ESI)Rx Prescription Drug Plan (includes option for mail order, if preferred)
No charge for preventive services: includes routine physicals, Well Baby care, immunization, labs, and x-rays

401(k) Plan

EMPOWER

Increase your retirement savings by enrolling in the Akima 401(k) Plan
Employee contributions up to IRS maximum
Auto Enrollment: New employees who do not elect to contribute or who do not elect to waive participation within 60 days of their eligibility will automatically be enrolled with a deferral contribution of 6% of earnings per pay period
Automatic Escalation: If you elect a contribution less than 6% and do not opt-out of the automatic escalation feature, your 401(k) contribution will increase by 1% each January until deferrals reach 6%
Features: 29 investment choices plus 11 target funds, a Roth and self-directed brokerage, and GoalMaker
SCA employees are not eligible for employer matched 401 (k) contribution

Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

PRUDENTIAL

All regular full-time and part-time employees who work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to receive Life and AD&D in the amount of $10,000
Voluntary employee life available up to the lesser of $750,000 or 8 times base annual earnings; guarantee issue of lesser of $200,000 or 3 times base annual earnings
Voluntary spouse life insurance with a guarantee issue of $30,000
Voluntary child life insurance available up to $10,000
Voluntary AD&D available (excludes child AD&D)

The administration of your benefits is managed by our trusted partner, CBIZ. Visit akima.cbizenroll.com.

Please Note:

Your benefits are effective the 1st of the month following your date of hire. If you are hired on the 1st of the month, your benefits are effective on that day.
You'll have a 30-day window from your date of hire to enroll in the offered benefit plans.
You are automatically enrolled in the medical plan at the employee-only coverage level, retroactive to your effective date.
To waive coverage, you must provide proof of enrollment in another group plan coverage, such as your spouse's employer plan, TriCare, or a Government retiree plan, AND complete an affirmation of coverage.
Please note that benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of your collective bargaining agreement and/or contract, if applicable.
