What is recruitment fraud?
Recruitment fraud is a sophisticated scam offering fake job opportunities to job seekers. This type of fraud is normally carried out through online services such as false websites, or through fake emails claiming to be from the company. The fraudsters often request recipients to provide personal information and to make payments as part of their fake recruiting process. They may also offer fraudulent employment opportunities to applicants and often ask for sensitive personal and financial information, including requiring candidates to arrange travel for face-to-face interviews with a certain travel agency.
Akima and its affiliates do not collect any financial commitment from candidates as a pre-employment requirement.
How to identify recruitment fraud
- Akima applicants are required to apply for Akima jobs through careers.akima.com. Legitimate job boards such as Indeed, LinkedIn and Clearance Jobs may feature jobs, but will direct candidates to apply directly on Akima’s career site.
- Fraudulent job offers often ask for financial or personal information early in the process. Akima does not ask for any financial commitment or contribution from a candidate at any stage of the recruitment process. Akima does not issue offers of employment without first conducting interviews, and Akima's offer letters are always issued through Akima's career portal.
- A fraudulent offer may ask you to book travel through a certain travel agency with the promise to reimburse travel costs.
- Akima does not issue checks to applicants to pay for office supplies or office set-up.
Akima and its operating companies are not responsible for fraudulent offers and advise candidates to follow the guidance provided above.
